adventures abound
I have frIends that live “over the hill” in the east Bay; they’ve lived
in that same area close to twenty years. If you were to ask them how many
local attractions or events they’ve visited or attended in those twenty years,
you could count them with two hands. alcatraz? nope. Muir Woods? no.
half Moon Bay? nah. Golden Gate Park? Once, but we didn’t really know
what to do once we got there, so we left and went home.
There’s something about living in an area for an extended period of time
where everything around you becomes a background blur to your life, and you
get a case of what I call the “gonnagettoit.” never heard of “gonnagettoit”?
Its symptoms are easy to spot: ask someone if they’ve ever visited a local
landmark or annual festival or museum and their response is always, “Yes, I’m
gonnagettoit, maybe this summer.” They repeat this year after year, and the
symptoms are usually accompanied by lots of indoor activities, high cooling
bills, and sore thumbs from pressing the remote control to see which rerun will
be the best pick for that night’s entertainment.
If you are suffering from “gonnagettoit,” or know someone who is, we’ve
got great news: You are holding the cure in your hands right now. Yes, inside
this issue we’ve compiled a comprehensive guide of fun things to do, places
to go, and people to see this summer, all within a short driving distance of
your couch. We guarantee that if used as recommended, our San Joaquin
Insider’s Guide will free you from any “gonnagettoit” once and for all.
To get the full healing effect of our Insider’s Guide, follow along with these
directions for proper usage and dosage:
• Place magazine, open to page 42, on your dining room table.
• Sit at table, and put your shoes on.
• Gather the family around you.
• Have a member of your family pick one of the activities or
destinations within our Insider’s Guide.
• Get everyone in your car.
• Go to said destination, have everyone get out of the car, and do not allow
anyone, including yourself, entry back into the car for at least two hours.
• Repeat as necessary.
Previous tests have shown a visible decrease of “gonnagettoit” after only one
application, but we recommend treatment at least once a week, preferably
during the weekend, for optimum results.
San Joaquin magazine’s Insider’s Guide: an essential part of your best summer yet.
enjoy,
